About

We make hand-cranked knitted wool socks made on our CSM- Circular Sock Machine, in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. Our machine  is the 88th Erlbacher Gearhart machine produced. It is a reproduction of an antique 1924 Gearhart Circular Sock Knitting Machine. The machine's serial # is also 88,  hense our venture name of, Socks Made On 88. We sell our sock pairs locally at the Halifax Brewery Farmers Market,  1496 Lower Water Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  At each market or show visit, our Circular Sock Machine is demonstrated so that you can see the 1800's technology  in action, making SOCKS! Please refer to the "Markets" button for an updated attendance schedule, ongoing.

We, primarily, use a high quality German Superwash yarn that is 75% wool and 25% nylon. We sometimes use some Canadian Superwash Yarn too which suggests a cold water wash.  Most of our socks can go in the washer and the dryer, but if you want to extend the lifetime of the socks, we suggest to hand wash them and lay them flat to dry.

Our wool sock pairs include our Regular Hung- Hemmed style, Left-overs, Deranged, Ribbed, and short Tabbies.          And, although SOCKS are our game, we also do sell Baby Hats, Adult Hats,  and Pony Tail Hats.
